A species recently recorded in Thailand. Before wrongly identified as subspecies of Athyma selenophora, has been raised as valid species by the Japanese entomologist S.Koiwaya in 2016. After that, thanks to Yutaka Inayoshi, the first discoveries in different areas of North Thailand (Chiang Mai, Nan, Tak, Kampaeng Phet). Further studies are needed to better understand the status of this species, Athyma selenophora and Athyma whitei.
