I am proud to present the first butterfly trip in an area of Bhutan rarely visited by entomologists and quite pristine. More than a simple trip will be a real expedition, with long transfers along hard roads, simple accommodations, breathtaking views of an untouched nature, unique culture and traditions, discovering locations where probably nobody shot butterflies before.
TRIP AVAILABLE IN 9 OR 15 DAYS
Day 1 Arrive at Guwahati and drive to Samdrup Jongkhar (3 hours drive, approx. 150 masl), the bordering town of Bhutan. Stop overnight.
Day 2 Explore places like Deothang areas for low altitude butterflies.
Day 3 Early morning, drive to Trashigang (approx 1,800msl, 150 km). On way, explore places like Wamrong, Morong, etc. We will be driving uphill.
Day 4 Explore the areas of Trashigang, following we will explore the areas of Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary. We will here look for high altitude species. This is a nomadic area and it is rich in cultural diversity as well.
Day 5 We will explore for Butterflies on the way and other parts of Sakteng Wildlife Santuary. This area is relatively unexplored for butterflies and chances of encountering new records are high.

Day 6 Early morning move to Trashiyangtse. At this place we will explore the areas of Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary which is close to Arunachal Pradesh of Bhutan.

Day 7 Again explore various locations around Trashiyangtse.
Day 8 Again explore various locations around Trashiyangtse.
Day 9 Move to Samdrup Jongkhar. Onway, we explore the areas of Narphung, Wamrong, etc. This will be same route taken earlier while moving to Trashiyangtse.
Day 10 Stop at Bhangtar. Explore the areas for butterflies along the Nyara Ama River etc.
Day 11 Again at Bhangtar. Explore the areas for butterflies along the Nyara Ama River etc.
Day 12 We’ll cross again the border to India, because is the only way to reach Jomotshangkha Wildlife Sanctuary. This is newly established Park. While it is existed before but the management setup was introduced just few years back. We’ll operate at an altitude between 100 up to 1300 approx.

Day 13 and 14 Two more days in this national park, exploring for butterflies in lowland and middle elevation.
Day 15 Early morning Drive to Guwahati and fly off to your destination.

INFORMATIONS
BHUTAN is a mountainous country and driving to another place consumes greater amount of time. However, we will take breaks in between and have some butterfly sessions. The butterflies in Bhutan comes from 10 to 2 PM. So we will minimize our travelling time during these hours.
CAR: depending the number of participants, the car will be a SUV Hyundai 4×4 or a van.
OUTLINE ITINERARY: Please note that the following is only intended as a guide. The actual itinerary may be changed if necessary due local conditions.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Your passport must be valid for a period of 6 months beyond the expected exit date. It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain any necessary tourist visa prior to departure.
VISAS: Bhutan visa will be provided by our Bhutanese tour operator (40US$). India multi-entry visa (80US$) must be requested directly by our customers (possibility to request online) https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/
TRAVEL INSURANCE: This is compulsory and must include full medical and emergency repatriation cover.
LIABILITY: By joining this tour you accept that you travel entirely at your own risk and that you absolve ThaiButterflies.com from and against any and all liability financial or otherwise resulting from accident, injury, illness, theft, or from flight cancellations/delays or failure by the ground agent or local guide to provide requested services.
HEALTH/FITNESS: It is your responsibility to ensure that you are medically and mentally fit to participate in a tropical tour where conditions will be sometime basic and at times hard.
TOURS HOURS: Depending the needs, usually we move at 7.30/8am to our destination. Although not mandatory, depending the day and the distance, usually we are back to the hotel at 4/5pm. Time to relax, rest, dinner usually at 7pm.
